Card Rarities Explained

Four tiers, four price points, four level caps. Rarity on ZumbaCards is not cosmetic — it maps directly onto Power and Speed, and those two numbers are the entire strategic surface of the battle system.

  • Common$1 per single card1 Power, 1 Speed · caps at level 5
  • Rare$5 per single cardStats not yet inspected on the platform
  • Epic$25 per single card3 Power, 3 Speed · caps at level 6
  • Legendary$100 per single card0.5–1% odds in the two welcome boxes

Common

$1 per single card

The five cards every new account is handed at sign-up are all Common, and they arrive with no Surprise Coins attached. Every Common we have inspected starts at 1 Power and 1 Speed, caps at level 5, and needs 3 duplicates to advance a level. The art and the affinity differ between them; the numbers do not. They are not filler — a starter deck is a real tournament entry and earns the full guaranteed XP — but at a flat 1/1 they lose exchanges to anything above the tier.

Rare

$5 per single card

The first step above the starter set. We have not yet inspected a Rare card on the platform, so we are not going to state its stat line or level cap — the pattern between Common and Epic suggests both rise, but suggesting is not knowing. A single Rare costs $5 outright, against $1 for a Common.

Epic

$25 per single card

The first tier where the numbers visibly move. The Epic we inspected starts at 3 Power and 3 Speed against a Common’s 1 and 1, caps at level 6 rather than 5, and needs 4 duplicates per level rather than 3. So a rarity step buys roughly triple the opening stat line, one more level of headroom, and a slower climb to each one. An Epic is also the reward at day 50 of the daily login streak — the only route to one without buying.

Legendary

$100 per single card

The top tier, and the one the welcome box odds are describing — 0.5% on the $20 box and 1% on the $50 box. We have not inspected a Legendary, so its stat line and level cap are not stated here. What is worth sitting with is the pricing: a single Legendary costs $100 outright, which is twice the $50 welcome box that carries a 1% chance of pulling one and credits 100 SC besides.

What we have actually seen

The stat lines above come from the cards' own detail screens on the platform, not from a community wiki or an estimate. We have inspected Common and Epic cards. We have not inspected a Rare or a Legendary, so neither tier's stats or level cap are stated anywhere on this site — if you see those numbers quoted elsewhere, ask where they came from.

Published odds

ZumbaCards has published card odds for exactly two boxes:

No odds have been released for the Starter, Advanced, Pro, Elite or Ultimate tiers, and no per-card drop weights exist publicly for any box. Anyone quoting a specific card's pull rate is estimating.

Does rarity equal value?

Not in the way the price list implies. Cards on ZumbaCards cannot be redeemed, sold or transferred — a Legendary is not an asset, it is a stat line. Its value is the leaderboard positions it helps reach and the XP those positions generate, and XP converts into box discounts through the Loyalty Club. Put the $25 an Epic costs next to what it does — three Power and three Speed instead of one and one — and the card layer reads as what it is: a collection, priced like one.

Since the guaranteed 5 XP a day is awarded win or lose, the marginal return on a better deck is only the leaderboard prize money — which pays a small fraction of a field of several hundred. Buy cards because you want the collection, not as a route to the discount.
